Integrative Cancer Review

About Integrative Cancer Review

Welcome!

The mission of the Integrative Cancer Review is to promote safe, effective and accessible mind-body and integrative therapies and resources for people affected by cancer.

We serve people diagnosed with cancer, caregivers, health and wellness professionals and others who can benefit from the leading edge research on evidence-based integrative and complementary cancer care. We collect and distill information on cancer care from leaders in integrative therapies, wisdom traditions and modern science for safe and practical use.

The Integrative Cancer Review was founded in 2015 by Marianne Woods Cirone, MS, MFA, CYT-500, E-RYT, a passionate advocate for safe, effective and accessible yoga and integrative therapies for people affected by cancer.

During the seven years she spent as the Wellness Coordinator at the LivingWell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva, Illinois, Cirone managed thousands of wellness visits per year, including yoga, meditation, Reiki, oncology massage and skin care, reflexology, sound healing and stress management. There, she saw the need to collect and disseminate the vast amount of information on integrative care research and wisdom traditions, in order to inform and educate those who could benefit most–both patients and professionals.

Cirone has been teaching yoga for since 1997, exclusively for people affected by cancer since 2003. She has been leading cancer-focused yoga trainings at 200- and 500-hour teacher trainings and teaches at other programs nationally. Cirone founded the Empowerment Yoga for Breast Cancer Care program at the Prana Yoga Center in Geneva, Illinois. She has published articles in YogaChicago and Yoga Therapy Today, and served as Principal Investigator on a study on yoga, Reiki and massage for cancer patients that was published in the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing in 2016.

As a graduate of the Rush University Health Systems Management master’s degree program and the University of Illinois business school, Cirone worked in hospital finance and healthcare consulting before specializing in cancer-focused wellness. She received a MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University and teaches creative and memoir writing to people affected by cancer. She also serves as a Board Member for the Alyssa Alvin Foundation for Hope, which is dedicated to bringing music, art and hope to young cancer patients.
