From Alignment to Enlightenment: Using Props to Achieve Stability and Ease in Yoga Poses, is a visual compendium of ways to use props to enhance the practice of yoga. This book focuses on both the physical and energetic bodies, and is intended for all students of yoga and yoga instructors who want to optimize the practice of yoga asana.
Written by co-authors, Tricia Fiske, one of the most respected yoga teachers and yoga teacher trainers in the country, and Marianne Woods Cirone, a leader in the area of accessible yoga, this book is essentially a yoga teacher training in a book. Based on the yogic principles of Sthira and Sukha, stability and ease, this book offers a strategy for providing both within yoga postures.
This guide lays out a framework of the main categories of yoga poses; provides a comparison of “unstable” and “stable” versions of the poses; shows important modifications for each of the poses using props; and describes the energetic effects of each pose on the subtle body, including on the chakras and the prana vayus.
In this book, you’ll learn how to:
- Identify common misalignments in yoga poses
- Use props to modify poses to cultivate safety, stability and ease
- Incorporate an understanding of the energetics of yoga through the chakras and prana vayus into your yoga sequences
If you want to make your yoga practice more stable, easeful and effective, both physically and energetically, this book is for you.
We also have a limited number of printed editions available and will have more in the future.
